Our Mission
At Youth Against Water Pollution, we are dedicated to creating a brighter and more sustainable future in South India. Led by Umasri Pujyam, a passionate 17-year-old environmental advocate from Memphis, USA, we are on a mission to address the pressing environmental issues plaguing the Godavari river and its surrounding communities. We strive to combat water pollution, plastic pollution, and agricultural runoff, which threaten the livelihoods of millions of people. With our unwavering dedication to river cleanup initiatives, proactive advocacy for policy reform, and relentless pursuit of innovative engineering, we strive to create a profound impact by raising awareness and implementing effective solutions. Our goal is to ensure access to clean drinking water for all, improve people's health, and safeguard the environment for future generations. Together, we can build a sustainable and thriving community where the well-being of both people and nature are mutually sustained.

The Bigger Picture
Untreated Sewage and pesticide runoff are the main reasons for river pollution. We are working with farmers to help them switch to eco-friendly methods through organic farming. We teach farmers and civilians about the agricultural crisis. The crisis will worsen as agricultural productivity decreases long term.
Background
This Organization was founded by Umasri Pujyam and Umamaheswara Pujyam who were inspired to fight against water pollution as people in their community suffered from the lack of clean drinking water. The Pujyams also helped local farmers switch to environmentally sustainable farming methods as it provides benefits in the long term.
